Starting from the legend of Icarus, on through Leonardo da Vinci’s instinctive genius to arrive at today’s space flights, two thousand years of history have brought us to the present collection of disciplines defined and homologated by the FAI.
These are the disciplines which the Organising Committee, with the agreement of the FAI, has brought together for the World Air Games Turin 2009 competitions.

At world level, each discipline has an International Commission which defines the rules of its own sport, the competition calendar etc.
For each discipline included in the World Air Games Turin 2009 competition calendar, the Committee has set up the relevant Commission, which, in close collaboration with the International Commissions, defines the sporting and competitive aspects of the competition in Turin.
